This is my original ode to Turkeys.  Turkeys could have been a symbol of a nation.  Instead they are objects of ridicule… and worse! Happy Thanksgiving!

Turkeys

When our nation was still brand new

Ben Franklin said the national bird

Should be the Turkey, then they thought it through

And the Mighty Eagle was much preferred.

Then when somebody  acted jerky

We started calling them a turkey

(SPOKEN) Then they got a really bad deal

When Turkeys were plucked for a holiday meal.

Turkeys got a really bad deal

Could have been the national bird

Instead we made them seem absurd

No one cares how turkeys feel

Ended up Thanksgiving meal.
